British Airport Authorities - the world’s leading airport company

Take-Off for Satellite Building at Stansted
Video showcase of new Airport satellite building

Brief:
To produce a dynamic film to promote and highlight the benefits of the yet-to-be-built satellite building at Stansted Airport; to be screened at the building’s launch event to raise its profile and create excitement amongst key audiences.

Solution:
Revival worked with an animation company who had produced 2D animations of the building and seamlessly blended these futuristic impressions with striking airport lifestyle shots and footage taken throughout the airport terminal buildings, the satellite building, and airside.

Results:

  • The film brought the building to life for viewers and was the highlight of the launch event
  • The 2 minute video was turned round in a short lead time, so approval and amends could be ready well in advance of the launch event.

The Revival Factor:
Making the impossible possible – creating a DVD to launch a building not yet built!

Derbyshire Criminal Justice Board (DCJB) – one of 42 boards set up across England and Wales to transform the way that the criminal justice system works.

Drama to set Offenders on the Straight and Narrow
Multi-purpose training DVD for a Criminal Justice Board

Brief:
To produce a dramatic piece of film designed to discourage repeat offenders from continuing a life of crime and highlighting the various support agencies available to help them reform. Also for use as a training resource for staff working with offenders.

Solution:
Revival profiled the journey of three ex-offenders who have since turned their lives around and changed their offending behaviour. The team filmed and interviewed the ex-offenders on location, putting them at ease and ensuring they felt comfortable discussing such sensitive subject matter.

Revival also worked closely with the range of agencies profiled in the DVD to highlight the support which has helped the offenders to reform. A dramatic opening sequence of an offender being released after a stretch in prison was also produced on location in a prison to create a positive impression for viewers.

Results:

  • The ‘Lighting the way to a brighter future’ DVD was considered ground-breaking and achieved extensive press coverage.
  • Laura Gurnett from Derbyshire Criminal Justice Board said: “The messages in the DVD are extremely strong – if persistent offenders are willing to engage with what they are seeing, they will see that there are a number of agencies who will support and assist them to break their cycle of criminal behaviour. Thoroughly enjoyed working with the Revival crew. The end product is just what we wanted.”

The Revival Factor:
The personal touch - putting the ex-offenders at ease and reassuring them that the DVD would be edited responsibly, meant they felt comfortable enough to describe their experiences in detail, creating maximum impact.

Derby Homes – a company set up to manage, maintain and improve the city’s council houses and estates.

Speaking out to Stakeholders on Housing
Promotional DVD with multi-language options for housing association

Brief:
To produce a promotional video to showcase Derby Homes and their standards of service to a target audience of leaseholders, tenants, partners and the wider community.

Solution:
Revival created an innovative video utilising a 3D animated character as the video’s presenter - the voice of Derby Homes. The character was carefully created to be ethnically neutral and in keeping with the Derby Homes branding, logo and identity. The character reinforced the key messages of the campaign in a light-hearted and memorable way. The use of character animation also made the film easily adaptable for translating and dubbing into three foreign language versions: Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu - languages which all feature on the DVD.

Results:

  • 100% positive feedback received from all key audiences
  • Louise Shaw, Marketing Officer, Derby Homes said: “We chose to work with Revival because we liked their fresh approach and ideas for making our area of work interesting!  From conception to completion the process ran exactly according to our schedule and was only achieved because everything was so well organised by Revival.  The end result is great and has been well received by everyone.”

The Revival Factor:
Creative thinking - use of the 3D animated character as the presenter ensured the key messages were highly memorable for the audience

EM Media - the new regional agency supporting the development of the film and media industry in the East Midlands.

Promoting a Bollywood Bonanza in Leicester
DVD for high-profile industry launch event

Brief:
To research, source and edit multiple elements of a short film to promote Leicester as the European Capital of Bollywood film-making to be screened at a high-profile industry launch event - with the purpose of motivating financiers to invest.

Solution:
Revival undertook heavy research to fulfil the content requirements and blended together a number of complex elements. Stock Bollywood film footage and appropriate licenses were sourced from a range of film distributors in the UK and India and this footage was blended with general shots of the Asian community in Leicester.  An emotive and motivational piece of film was produced promoting the thriving Bollywood film industry in Leicester, the home grown talent and immense skill-base there.

Results:

  • A high impact film was created within budget and in an exceptionally tight timeframe of one week.
  • It was screened at the launch and set the scene for the rest of the event’s discussions making an immediate impact with the delegates.
  • Significant interest from financiers who viewed the film

The Revival Factor:
Love a challenge! Revival Studios were the only video production company willing to attempt to turn around this complex assignment in the tight timeframe given.

High Peak Borough Council – tasked with improving the quality of life in the Borough.

A Sense of Pride in High Peak Borough
Launch video for new staff initiative at County Council

Brief:
To produce a film to launch PRIDE – an initiative to inspire staff to take pride in their area, in their job roles and in the council generally – to be screened at the annual staff conference.

Solution:
Revival combined a showcase of some of the council’s achievements with graphic animation in the form of the initiative’s logo. The PRIDE logo has much resonance with staff as a strong visual representation of the council’s values, so this was translated into film with careful use of colour, style and key words to subtly reinforce the messages of the campaign.

Results:

  • Feedback indicated that staff felt inspired and uplifted after the viewing and a very positive tone was set for the rest of the conference.
  • As part of an annual review, the DVD was shown to inspectors which resulted in the council winning the prestigious ‘Council of the Year’ Award.
  • The film has since been used to help promote the council to wider audiences.
  • Helen Blakeman, High Peak Borough Council said: “The video has been really well received by everyone. Definitely hit all the buttons! Every aspect of the process and the end result has been excellent. Couldn’t be faulted.”

The Revival Factor:
A message that hits home – Revival used a series of strong visual metaphors to create a memorable piece of film to really lift the spirits of the audience.

London Development Agency – regional development agency responsible for driving London's sustainable economic growth.

Encouraging Enterprising Women
Promotional video covering highlights of a women’s enterprise conference

Brief:
Produce a professional video capturing the agency’s ‘Women in Enterprise’ conference plus a highlights film to raise awareness of the agency’s activities in this priority area and increase attendance at future events.

Solution:
Revival captured all of the speeches, workshops, and behind the scenes footage over the 2 day conference. They used a vox pop approach to interview a range of women and profile a range of experiences.  The event featured a host of high-profile speakers including Janet Street Porter, Dame Anita Roddick and Tessa Sanderson and footage of their speeches was captured to maximise the overall impact of the DVD. The footage was then cut into a short promotional film.

Results:

  • The video was used to generate audiences to future events
  • Recognised by the agency as a valuable tool to raise awareness of their efforts in encouraging women into enterprise.

The Revival Factor:
Asking the right questions… Revival put their professional interviewing technique into action to ensure that a diverse range of women and their experiences were portrayed in the video.

MHA Care Group - provides residential care, specialist dementia care, sheltered housing and Live at Home schemes for the elderly.

Drama to Promote Forward Thinking on Care
Drama based training film for care home provider

Brief:
To produce a dramatic piece of film to promote a forward thinking attitude to the residential care of the elderly, in particular those suffering with dementia. To promote MHA’s dedication to person-centred care and create a more positive approach to training carers, industry professionals and relatives.

Solution:
MHA had devised a stage play about caring for the elderly to highlight key training messages for carers. This was taken on a tour around the UK, to venues that included the House of Commons.

Two years on, Revival were commissioned to produce a video adaptation of the full play in order to reach a wider audience and worked closely with the original stage team to bring their story to the screen. This involved location filming in care homes and the countryside, adapting the script for film and enhancing the production with appropriate effects and music for added impact.

Results:

  • With the drama format, carers found the video a far more effective training tool as they did not feel they were being preached to.
  • A member of the original commissioning panel was moved to tears after watching the video adaption of the screen play!
  • Sharon Morley, Events manager, MHA said: “What a brilliant video. Your dedication to detail, encouragement to the actors and ability to keep within budget is very much appreciated. I will certainly be recommending Revival to other organisations in the charity sector.”
  • Due to the success of the film, Revival has since been commissioned to produce numerous promotional DVDs for MHA.
  • The film has been sold on the Care Association UK for wider distribution.

The Revival Factor:
The sensitive approach…Revival got deep inside their subject matter and were able to produce a dramatic, sensitive and highly effective piece of film

Neish Training – offer equal opportunity and diversity training courses and workshops throughout the UK.

Finding the Neish in Diversity Training
A multi-camera documentary-style training DVD

Brief:
To produce a screen version of the ‘Eye Opener’ exercise conducted by internationally acclaimed diversity champion Jane Elliott to be used as a training tool. Multi-camera approach required to capture all aspects of the exercise but without showing cameras in any of the shots.

Solution:
As the training exercise is interactive and responsive, not rehearsed or scripted, Revival assigned an experienced production crew who were well versed in live studio filming.

Jane Elliott conducted her blue-eyed, brown-eyed exercise with thirty-five volunteers and Revival used a multi-camera approach to capture all elements of the one-day exercise which deliberately introduces discrimination by division of participants in to ‘superior’ and ‘inferior’ groups on the basis of eye colour, not of skin colour - revealing how power inequalities can perpetuate racism and other ‘isms’.

The DVD was filmed in Glasgow highlighting that the issues raised in Jane Elliott’s DVDs (previously filmed in the USA) are also prevalent in the UK.  The footage was edited into three separate training DVDs, each including subtitles and scene selection.

Results:

  • The ‘Eye Opener’ training DVD went on to win ‘The Premier Learning on Screen’ Award 2004.
  • The DVD is recognised as a powerful training tool, raising awareness of the issues of inequality in the UK.
  • Distribution widened to a number of other institutions such as schools.
  • Gillian Neish, Neish Training said: “I had a clear vision of how I wanted Eye Opener to be, and Revival Studios made it happen. Their attention to detail and high standards ensured that we produced top quality training materials and what’s more, they did it within our agreed timescale and budget, I couldn’t ask for more.”

The Revival Factor:
The right team – the challenge was to capture unrehearsed, unscripted highly interactive action without any cameras in shot so Revival assigned a production team specifically experienced in live studio filming.

Windsave – developers of renewable energy solutions for domestic and commercial properties.

Generating Awareness for Windsave
A promotional DVD to market innovative wind turbine

Brief:
To produce a high impact marketing DVD to showcase Windsave’s revolutionary WS1000 Plug ’n’ Save micro wind turbine within a four week timeframe.

Solution:
Revival worked closely with Windsave to come up with a production concept and script that would work specifically for Windsave’s product and market. Location filming of the product in action included aerial and ground level filming in Glasgow and Manchester.

Revival introduced a number of additional elements during the post production process in keeping with the innovative nature of the product.  These included a 3D animated graphics title sequence, 3D animated graphic captions, a high-end digital edit and sound dub, incorporating an audio mix and sound effects to compliment the graphics.  The production was then mastered to DVD with additional versions created for use at events and conferences.

Results:

  • Due to the success of the DVD, Revival has since supplied footage of Windsave products to the BBC, FT and B&Q.
  • Anya Gordon, Sales Manager, Windsave Limited. “Windsave required an up-to-date marketing DVD and we wanted something new and innovative. Revival came highly recommended. The team took the Windsave message and successfully adapted the concept into film; they were extremely inventive and professional. We’re delighted with the end result - we have a powerful marketing DVD that can be used across all sectors.”

The Revival Factor:
Just the right mix – Revival soon got to grips with this innovative product and by understanding the particular production needs were able to produce a highly professional and innovative DVD perfectly in tune with the product.
